Think about it. Jack is the devil because he is posed as Baphomet. If you watch the movie with a timer Jack sold his soul to the devil. At the part at the bar where he said he would sell his soul for drink. He sold his soul when he drunk the drink at exactly 66 minutes and 6 seconds into the movie.(666)

I read a lot, and I write a lot... the shinning is one of my most favorite stories, and the movie is one of my favorite movies, so here we go, bare with me, and I will share with you a bit of my personal impressions(i love lore and can talk about it for hours). Lots was cut out from the book and a couple things where changed (no shit right, the fucking book was 1500 pages long, and there was no way they could pack it all in to a movie), but they did do a great job translating the book in to a movie. I will give you a couple of quick facts that where not in the movie(you are going to love this)
1. jack got in trouble for beating a student
2. dick never died and actually saves the day (the dude had the shinning of course he would know to duck the axe)
3.the most haunted part of the the resort was the playground, but I don't think they ever say why
4.there was great emphasis on this new years party that wasn't fully explained
5.. the house destroys itself...the boiler explodes

the boiler was a big part of the book that they only briefly mention in the movie. the boiler (to the best of my knowledge) was a metaphor of jacks mental state. The manger tells jack "its an old boiler so you will have to go down every day and release the presure or it will explode". jack does it for a while but as he goes crazier he does it less and less, and the pressure builds and builds (like jacks mind) until, BOOM! OK that is a whole other can of worms to get in to, but the reason I bring it up is cause it is a metaphor. Now as for the picture at the end of the movie (my favorite part of the whole movie BTW)well that never happen in the book (as far as I can remember)so that means the director has intervened... the director wanted to show you something, maybe something he didn't have time to fully show you in the movie or maybe he just wanted to give you a hint. Most people assume its just a metaphor, that the photo was not really on the wall, and that it was just a visual representation of an idea... I don't like that, I like thinking that it was there under there noses the whole time. So let's assume it was really there the whole time, what was the director trying to show us? Well, simply "jack" has always been there, but regardless what the bartender says , the truth is that the physical "jack" didn't kill the twins, mr. greedy did (creaty, I don't know how to spell his name)

part 2 ..... XD
So that means there must be a metaphysical jack, a spirit, an eternal form. Is it the spirit of the house? Is it a reflection of something inside of us, maybe an embodiment of our fears or simple the embodiment of cabin fever itself . The only thing that we can be sure of is that it manifests its self in the over look, and its always been there.

truly;

Thanks for the explanation. People have been saying that the photo had something to do with satan but i thought it was all a lie.
